
According to CCTV News, the total value of China's cross-border e-commerce trade reached RMB 2.71 trillion in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 14%. This growth rate outpaced the overall growth of China's goods trade by 9 percentage points and accounted for 6.2% of the country's total goods trade value.
Exports via cross-border e-commerce amounted to approximately RMB 2.15 trillion, up 16.9% year-on-year, representing 8.5% of China's total goods exports. Imports reached RMB 555.25 billion, growing 4.1% year-on-year, and accounted for 3% of the total goods imports.
The primary export destinations were the US (36.2%), the UK (11.7%), and Germany (5.7%). On the import side, the main sources were the US (15.8%), Japan (10.5%), and Germany (9.8%).
Consumer goods dominated cross-border e-commerce exports, making up 97.5% of the total. Key products included apparel, footwear, bags, jewelry, digital products such as smartphones and computers, home textiles, kitchen and bathroom supplies, as well as home and office appliances and accessories.
Consumer goods also made up 97.8% of imports, with major categories including beauty and skincare products, perfumes and personal care items, fresh and packaged foods, healthcare products, medical devices, and infant formula.
The primary export hubs for cross-border e-commerce were Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangsu, and Shandong provinces. Key import destinations included Guangdong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, and Beijing.
