On May 15, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian announced during a regular press briefing that China will extend visa-free entry to citizens of Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay. The policy will apply to holders of ordinary passports starting from June 1, 2025, and will remain in effect until May 31, 2026.
Under this policy, citizens from the five countries can enter China for business, tourism, family visits, cultural exchanges, or transit without a visa, provided their stay does not exceed 30 days.
Lin Jian emphasized that this decision is part of China's commitment to high-level opening-up and aims to facilitate greater international exchanges. He stated:
"China will continue to introduce measures that enhance travel convenience for both Chinese and foreign citizens. We warmly welcome more foreign friends to take advantage of the visa-free and visa facilitation policies, explore the diverse, vibrant, and colorful China, and experience its energy and hospitality."
