Since US President Donald Trump was inaugurated 108 days ago, Melania Trump has spent less than 14 days in the White House, and now the most sensitive topic in the White House is "Where's Melania?", according to the New York Times on May 7.
The New York Times says Melania has sometimes disappeared for weeks at a time, holed up in Trump Tower in Manhattan or at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. Administration officials say she has appeared in the White House more often than the public knows, but have not disclosed exactly when or for how long.
The New York Times adds that Trump himself has taken on some of the duties normally reserved for a first lady since his second term. For example, choosing the lighting in the White House, redesigning the Rose Garden, hosting tours in the East Wing, or organizing a reception for Women's History Month.
According to reports, the first lady is not expected to accompany Trump on his visit to the Middle East next week.
