According to Thai media reports, the Tourism Authority of Thailand recently announced that it will launch the travel promotional campaign, which is expected to invite more than 300 Chinese netizens, journalists and other self-media personalities to travel to Thailand. The program will showcase the Thai travel experience to Chinese tourists through social media and other platforms to revitalize the Chinese tourist market.
Figures show that between January and April 2025, the number of Chinese tourists traveling to Thailand dropped sharply, by 56% year-on-year. If the trend continues, the number of Chinese flights to Thailand is expected to decrease by more than 68% in the second half of 2025. As a result of the continued downturn in the Chinese tourist market, Thailand has adjusted its strategy to other markets.
The Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports will meet with the Chinese Ambassador to Thailand next week to invite the Chinese Minister of Tourism to visit Thailand and discuss cooperation. Preliminary exchanges were held on May 4. In addition, the Tourism Authority of Thailand will adjust its strategy to focus on average tourist spending.
