According to CCTV News, on April 27 local time, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum delivered a speech urging US candidates during state elections to focus on addressing their own country's issues rather than using attacks on Mexico as political leverage and campaign propaganda. He emphasized that Mexico is not a political tool for the US.
Sheinbaum stated that the US should concentrate on its own numerous problems and not use Mexico for electoral purposes. In the relationship with the US, Mexico is not anyone's tool.
Since US President Trump took office, the US has issued a series of threats regarding tariffs and sanctions against Mexico, citing reasons such as Mexico's failure to comply with water resource treaties, its inability to stop illegal immigration and drug trafficking into the US, and violations of tomato marketing agreements. The US has also threatened to restrict imports of Mexican livestock under the pretext of preventing the spread of disease.
