Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump met inside St. Peter's Basilica before Pope Francis' funeral.
The White House characterized their 15-minute discussion as "very productive," and a spokesperson for Ukraine mentioned that they would meet again later on Saturday (April 26).
Both leaders are attending the service in Vatican City, joined by other dignitaries, including Prince William, UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
This meeting follows Trump's statement the previous day that Russia and Ukraine were "very close to a deal," after discussions between his envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday.
