The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has partnered with the Shaanxi Provincial Cultural Heritage Administration to launch the exhibition "The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: The Great Unity - Civilisation of the Qin and Han Dynasties in Shaanxi Province" at the Hong Kong Museum of History (HKMH).

Opening to the public today (April 16), the exhibition features over 130 artifacts from Shaanxi and archaeological finds from Hong Kong, including the famous terracotta army of Emperor Qin Shihuang. It highlights key developments during the Qin and Han dynasties and runs until July 7, with free admission.

At yesterday's ceremony, Chief Secretary for Administration Mr. Chan Kwok-ki announced the establishment of the Chinese Culture Promotion Office (CCPO), which aims to enhance cultural confidence and promote Chinese history. In collaboration with HKMH, the CCPO launched the General History of China Series, with the current exhibition marking its second installment.

The event was attended by prominent guests, including Mr. Qi Bin from the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government and various cultural leaders. Over 100 carefully selected exhibits will be displayed, many of which are making their Hong Kong debut, including grade-one national treasures.

Highlight pieces feature three significant terracottas, including the Terracotta General and the Terracotta Kneeling Musician, displayed in glass cases for optimal viewing. Other standout exhibits include a replica of Bronze Chariot No. 1 and pottery figurines reflecting the Han dynasty's animal husbandry.

Additionally, the exhibition explores Hong Kong's historical development during these periods, featuring over 20 local archaeological finds. Multimedia programs will enhance visitor engagement, allowing them to learn about the terracotta army and ancient measurements.

HKMH will also host educational programs, including free lectures and workshops for schools. This exhibition is a collaborative effort, with support from various cultural institutions. For more details, visit the HKMH website.
