The Houthi group announced early Sunday (April 6) that it launched a new attack on the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier and its supply ship in the northern Red Sea within the last 24 hours.
Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea stated that the aircraft carrier was targeted with "cruise missiles and drones," while the supply ship was struck by a "ballistic missile."
The US Navy has not yet responded to these claims. Tensions have escalated between the Houthis and the US military since airstrikes resumed on March 15.
The Houthis, who control much of northern Yemen, have also claimed responsibility for multiple strikes on US warships and targets in Israel recently. They assert that their attacks are intended to pressure US-backed Israel to cease its offensive in the Gaza Strip and facilitate humanitarian aid into the region.
In the past two weeks, US forces have conducted a series of strikes on Houthi targets across various provinces in Yemen.
