Museum Summit 2025 kicks off in HK, fostering global cultural exchange

In partnership with The Guimet - National Museum of Asian Arts in France, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department launched the Museum Summit 2025 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre today (March 28).

Themed "Going Beyond," this two-day summit has gathered over 30 prominent figures and professionals from renowned museums and institutions across 17 countries to exchange insights, research, and innovative ideas. Notably, this year marks the participation of five new countries: Egypt, Hungary, Norway, Qatar, and Türkiye.

This edition of the Museum Summit is the fourth since its inception in 2017. At the opening ceremony, Deputy Chief Secretary for Administration Mr. Cheuk Wing-hing emphasized the Summit's establishment as a prestigious international event within the museum sector and as a key highlight in Hong Kong's cultural calendar.

Mr. Cheuk highlighted that the Summit has attracted over 7,000 registered participants, with approximately one-third joining from the Mainland and abroad. Additionally, delegations of over 40 museum experts from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Museum Alliance and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) are present, underscoring the Summit's growing significance and Hong Kong's role as a hub for East-meets-West cultural exchange.

Dr. Yannick Lintz, President of The Guimet - National Museum of Asian Arts, also delivered an opening address, setting the tone for the Summit.

The event features four thematic sessions: "Museums + Tourism," "Museums + Technology," "Museums + Sustainability," and "Museums + Wellness." Discussions will focus on how museums can harness the benefits of the tourism industry and technological advancements to promote sustainable development and enhance mental and physical well-being.
