The press conference for the third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held today (March 3) at 3 p.m. in the Press Conference Hall on the first floor of the Great Hall of the People. Liu Jieyi, the spokesperson for the session, briefed domestic and international media on the meeting and answered questions from reporters.
The reporter from Ta Kung Wen Wei Media Group asked about CPPCC's efforts in promoting the integration of education, science, and talent development, given that technological innovation has become a focal point of global strategic competition, with talent being the backbone of innovation.

Liu emphasized that technological innovation relies on talent, and talent cultivation is rooted in education. He highlighted that China boasts the largest education system in the world, with remarkable achievements in leveraging technological innovation to support high-quality development. He noted that China's ranking in the Global Innovation Index has climbed to 11th place, marking new milestones in the journey to becoming a leader in education, science, and talent development.
Liu also stated that the CPPCC has been actively advancing the integration of education development, technological innovation, and talent cultivation. The organization has focused on optimizing the structure of scientific and technological talent, strengthening strategic talent, reforming university education models, and enhancing the country's capacity for independent talent development. Through consultations and recommendations, the CPPCC has actively worked on improving mechanisms for identifying, selecting, and nurturing innovation-driven talent, as well as promoting coordinated development between scientific innovation and industries.

Liu detailed that the CPPCC has conducted extensive research and discussions with universities, enterprises, talent service organizations, and research institutions. This includes providing input on building a modern vocational education system, promoting opportunities for individuals to achieve their potential, and fostering talent.
According to Liu, key initiatives include pairing schools in frontier and remote areas with more developed institutions to improve basic education quality in underdeveloped regions, which focuses on sharing digital resources, modernizing teaching equipment, and enhancing teacher training to uplift education in ethnic and remote areas.
Liu also highlighted that over 130 members of the CPPCC are academicians of China's top two academic institutions, in addition to numerous leaders in higher education, scientific research, and innovation. These individuals actively contribute to education reform, independent talent cultivation, and technological self-reliance.
For example, university educators are innovating teaching methods and creating exemplary courses. Researchers are fostering teams while tackling critical technologies and completing major scientific tasks. Business leaders are increasing investment in talent development and research, achieving collaborative innovation across academia, industry, and research sectors.
Furthermore, CPPCC members are strengthening science education for the public, especially among youth, to foster a culture that values education, science, and talent, he said.
