Multiple regions in Japan have reported outbreaks of norovirus over the past month, with more than 100 confirmed cases. Local governments have issued food poisoning warnings, urging the public to exercise caution, especially when consuming seafood, particularly raw shellfish.

According to Japanese media reports, Nagano Prefecture has seen double the number of infections compared to the same period last year. On Feb. 18, 12 residents in Nagano City fell ill with norovirus after eating bento meals from the same restaurant. Earlier, a hotel in the prefecture reported a cluster of 13 infected individuals.

In Miyagi Prefecture, 37 people suffered food poisoning after consuming raw oysters produced by a seafood company in Ishinomaki City. These oysters were sold at Costco stores across the country. Meanwhile, in Tokyo's Nakano, 81 individuals experienced food poisoning after eating bento meals from a restaurant, with investigations confirming norovirus as the cause.

Additionally, in Aichi Prefecture's Ichinomiya City, over 500 people exhibited food poisoning symptoms after consuming bento meals from a local manufacturer, including more than 400 kindergarten children. Health authorities detected the presence of norovirus in some of the patients.

Due to the severity of the outbreak, local governments across Japan have issued norovirus-related food poisoning warnings, advising people to take precautions when consuming seafood, especially raw shellfish.
