On Feb. 20, the second round of the group stage at the 34th ITTF-ATTU Asian Cup 2025 took place at the Universiade Sports Center in Shenzhen. China's Sun Yingsha triumphed over India's Akula Sreeja with scores of 11-8, 12-10, and 11-5, advancing as the top player in her group.
Akula, currently ranked 29th in the world, previously faced Sun at the 2024 Paris Olympics. In that match, Akula delivered a strong performance in the first two games, even holding set points at 10-6 in the first game and 10-5 in the second. However, Sun demonstrated remarkable resilience, turning both games around and ultimately winning the match 4-0.

In today's match, the first two games were closely contested, particularly the second, where Akula leveled the score at 10-10. After securing her victory, Sun praised Akula's forehand attacks and acknowledged that they have had limited encounters in competitive play, with their most significant meeting being at the Paris Olympics.
Sun commented, "Her skills are impressive, so it's normal for the scores to be tight at times. But today, my rhythm was relatively consistent."
