
The fire alarm went off at around 9 am today (Feb. 17) at the MTR Kowloon Bay Depot, where staff found smoke coming from the office's cable trunking.
Firefighters responded to the scene and extinguished the smoke. After preliminary investigation, the fire was believed to be caused by a short-circuit in the electrical wiring.
MTR said that for safety reasons, about 680 staff in the depot were evacuated in accordance with procedures. No one was injured in the incident and train service was not affected.
