The Labour Department will host the Youth Employment Expo in Wan Chai on Feb. 15, offering over 1,200 on-the-job training vacancies for young individuals aged 29 or below, both locally and in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) Mainland cities.
This expo is a collaborative effort involving the Greater Bay Area Youth Employment Scheme, the Youth Employment & Training Programme (YETP), and Youth Employment Start (Y.E.S.).
A total of 47 organizations from various sectors-such as airline services, hotels, banking, public services, retail, transport, construction, catering, tourism, security, and technology-will participate in the event.
The expo will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Convention & Exhibition Centre, and admission is free. Young job seekers can apply on-site and may be selected for immediate interviews.
In addition to job opportunities, the expo will feature career talks, sharing sessions, program demonstrations, employment consultations, interview preparation assistance, and resume photo services. Singers will also share their personal career development stories. Additionally, the Youth Entrepreneurship Bazaar will showcase innovative and handcrafted products from Y.E.S. business members.
Last year's Policy Address announced measures to enhance employment services and support for young people, including relaxing eligibility criteria for the GBA Youth Employment Scheme. This allows young individuals with sub-degree or higher qualifications to participate, and it increases the allowances provided to enterprises.
Furthermore, the upper age limit for YETP participants has been raised to extend employment support to those aged 15 to 29 with sub-degree or lower qualifications.
