Hongkong Post announced today (Feb. 10) that it will resume accepting mail containing goods destined for the US starting tomorrow (Feb. 11), following confirmation that US authorities will not impose tariffs on these shipments.
Last week, the US Postal Service notified Hongkong Post that it could not send mail containing goods unless a "Formal Entry" was submitted according to US regulations. In response, Hongkong Post temporarily suspended this service while negotiating with U.S. authorities. Today, they received confirmation that no tariffs will be imposed, allowing the resumption of mail services.
Hongkong Post cautioned residents that US government policies can change rapidly, which may lead to future adjustments. Additionally, mail to the US may face delays due to potential backlogs.
The Hong Kong government reiterated its strong dissatisfaction with the US tariffs on Hong Kong products and urged the US to take immediate action to rectify this situation.
