The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating after a Japan Airlines flight hit a Delta Airlines plane as the aircraft was taxiing at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Wednesday.
The strike happened on Wednesday around 10:40 a.m. (Thursday, 2:40 a.m. HK time) in an area that is not under air traffic control, according to the agency. The Delta plane's wing tip was struck by the Japan Airlines aircraft.
According to Japan Airlines, the aircraft in question was Flight 68 from Narita, Tokyo to Tacoma, Seattle, with 185 passengers and crew on board, all of whom were uninjured. The Delta flight was heading to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico with 142 customers on board.
At least 180 flights were reportedly delayed and 28 canceled as a result of the incident. The Federal Aviation Administration said it was investigating the cause of the accident.
