Say no to abnormal fan culture: Table tennis players in Chinese national team disband official fan groups on social media
Recently, the Chinese Table Tennis Association and the Chinese table tennis team once again took the initiative to crack down on the chaotic fan culture, unanimously deciding to disband official fan groups and expand the scope to include all personnel and all social media platforms.
Personnel with official fan groups have gradually dissolved the groups, taking concrete actions to resist the abnormal fan culture. They are now focusing more on daily training, preparation for competitions, guiding fans to return to genuine "passion," safeguarding public interests, and promoting a positive and uplifting social atmosphere.
Coaches, athletes, support staff, and management personnel all expressed that the table tennis project has long been affected by the abnormal fan culture, seriously impacting training and daily life. The image of the national table tennis team has been tarnished, with team members and their families facing pressures and online abuse outside of competitions, causing deep concerns.
Wang Chuqin, who disbanded the official fan group, stated that he will now focus more on daily training and competitions, diligently fulfilling his duties as an athlete. "I have officially disbanded the fan group. Please join me in witnessing more glorious moments of the national table tennis team on the court. Thank you for your understanding and support. Let's cheer for the national team together, and contribute to a clean online space!"
Sun Yingsha said, "Going all out and bringing glory to the country is my honorable mission. I appreciate the continuous support and understanding from fans. Please focus more on the competitions and our performances on the court, reject the fanaticism that deviates from the essence of sports, stay away from the disturbance of the 'fan culture,' and together, let's protect the purity and beauty of sports."
