Watch This | Nintendo Switch 2 unveiled on April 2
The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 has finally been unveiled. On Jan. 16, 2025, Nintendo uploaded a teaser trailer for the Switch 2 on its YouTube channel, announcing that a "Nintendo Direct" event will take place on April 2, 2025, to provide more details.
The design of the Switch 2 maintains the style of its predecessor but includes several enhancements. The device features repositioned ports, with a new, more convenient Type-C socket located on the top of the console. The back now boasts a redesigned stand that allows for multiple viewing angles. The controllers have larger joysticks and buttons for improved comfort, and additional buttons on the back can function similarly to a mouse.
Nintendo emphasized that the Switch 2 will support backward compatibility, allowing players to continue enjoying their existing Nintendo Switch games and experience upcoming titles. The Nintendo Switch Online service will also carry over to the new model, ensuring a comprehensive gaming experience.
Furthermore, Nintendo plans to host Switch 2 experience events in various cities worldwide. According to the company's website, experience events are scheduled for April 26 and 27 in Japan, with Hong Kong and Taipei among the other cities slated to hold similar events.
