In the second quarter of this year, the Home and Youth Affairs Bureau will collaborate with the Family Council to organize a "Hong Kong Good Family Election," Alice Mak, Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, announced today (Jan. 15) in an interview.
This election will feature over 10 awards to recognize exemplary families, promote good family values, and foster social harmony. It will be open for public nominations, and the results will be determined by a judging panel that includes community members.
Mak pointed out that the judging criteria primarily focus on the relationships among family members, how they uphold core family values, and how they support each other in their daily lives or work. In terms of family education and nurturing the next generation, the emphasis is on identifying effective methods that other families can learn from. Participants can enter the competition by writing articles and other means, and selected families will film segments to share their stories.
Mak emphasized that the purpose of this event is not to select the "best family," but rather to encourage everyone to care more about their own families. She hopes that this event will provide an opportunity for reflection and contribute to the development of good family values, ultimately fostering greater social harmony.
