Despite fresh concerns about Hongkongers being tricked into traveling to Southeast Asia and getting arrested for participating in scams, the head of a travel agency said Tuesday (Jan. 14) that the company isn't altering its tour plans.

On an RTHK radio program, Steven Huen, executive director of EGL Tours, said he has seen a drop in people booking trips to Thailand and Myanmar, with customers opting for places including Singapore and Malaysia instead.

He warned that no matter where travelers head off to, they should keep their wits about them.

"When heading out at night for a drink or walk, you should be careful," he said.

"You should also stay alert, and for instance, not let others exploit our kindness and trick us into suffering financial losses."

Huen said some customers who planned to travel alone have changed their minds and opted to join a tour group instead.
