President Xi Jinping's important speech sets course for future development of HK and Macao: Xia Baolong

On the morning of Jan. 9, the National Hong Kong and Macao Research Association held a seminar in Beijing to learn and implement the important speech spirit of President Xi Jinping at the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the Motherland and the inauguration ceremony of the sixth term administration of the Macao Special Administrative Region. Xia Baolong, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office, attended the seminar and delivered a speech.

Xia stated that President Xi's attendance at the celebration of the 25th anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland, as well as his inspection of the Macao SAR, greatly enhanced the confidence of Hong Kong, Macao, and the international community in the advantages and development prospects of the "one country, two systems."

"It greatly inspired the new term government of the Macao SAR to open up new development prospects and continuously create new brilliance and greatly motivated all sectors of Hong Kong and Macao society to promote better development for Hong Kong and Macao, making greater contributions to the construction of a strong country and the rejuvenation of the nation."

According to Xia, President Xi's speech highly affirmed the successful practice of the "one country, two systems" with Macao characteristics, profoundly summarized the practical experience of the "one country, two systems," scientifically outlined the blueprint for the development of the "one country, two systems" cause, solemnly declared to the world the firm stance of comprehensively, accurately, and unwaveringly implementing the policy of "one country, two systems", provided fundamental guidance and action guidelines for the current and future work in Hong Kong and Macao, and has significant milestone significance in the development process of the "one country, two systems".

Xia stated that President Xi's important speech looked back on the magnificent changes in Macao, using the brilliant achievements achieved through the practice of "one country, two systems" to eloquently prove to the world that this good system has strong vitality.

He also expressed that President Xi Jinping's important speech is based on a broad perspective of time and space, vividly putting forward the values of peace, inclusiveness, openness, and shared development contained in the "one country, two systems", greatly highlighting the era significance and global significance of the "one country, two systems".

Xia Baolong said that President Xi Jinping's important speech clearly puts forward the important mission of practicing the "one country, two systems" in the new era, earnestly hoping that the SAR government will seize opportunities, be determined to reform, take on responsibilities, and have a strong guiding role in creating a new situation of high-quality development of the "one country, two systems". 

"President Xi Jinping's deeply affectionate entrustment will surely inspire and encourage all residents of Hong Kong and Macao to forge ahead, work hard, and inject strong impetus into achieving higher and further development for the two cities."
