HK Customs seizes liquid cocaine at HKZMB HK port
On Jan. 3, Hong Kong Customs seized approximately 2.4 kilograms of suspected liquid cocaine, valued at around HK$2 million, at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port. A suspect connected to the case was arrested on Jan. 6.
The seizure occurred during an inspection of a parcel posted from Guangzhou that was declared to contain acrylic boards. Upon examination, Customs officers discovered the liquid cocaine concealed within the hollow spaces of three acrylic boards.
Following the investigation, officers conducted a controlled delivery operation in Hung Hom, where they arrested a 27-year-old man who was suspected of being involved. The suspect, who claimed to be unemployed, resisted cooperation during the arrest.
He faces charges of attempting to traffic a dangerous drug and obstructing Customs officers. He is scheduled to appear in Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts on Jan. 8.
Customs officials remind the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging in drug trafficking activities for monetary gain. Individuals should not accept offers to carry controlled items into or out of Hong Kong.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in dangerous drugs is a serious offense, carrying a maximum penalty of HK$5 million fine and life imprisonment.
The public is encouraged to report any suspected drug trafficking activities to Customs via their 24-hour hotline at 182 8080 or through their dedicated email and online reporting forms.
