The President of the Hong Kong Federation of Restaurants & Related Trades, Wong Ka-wo, revealed today (Dec. 26) on a radio program that restaurant revenue during the Christmas period recorded an 8% year-on-year increase. The uptick in inbound tourists, likely driven by Shenzhen's reinstatement of the "multiple-entry" policy, played a significant role in the growth.
Wong highlighted that this year's Christmas festivities featured various activities, including a fireworks display, which encouraged local residents to stay in HK and spend more. He also noted that hotels did not significantly raise prices for their holiday buffet offerings; in some cases, they even reduced prices or introduced special promotions. This attracted both tourists and local residents to participate in festive events. Wong remains optimistic about the overall revenue growth for the restaurant sector this year.
