On Dec. 25, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office held a regular press conference. A reporter inquired about the recent delivery of the first batch of 38 US-made M1A2T tanks to Taiwan, with Taiwan's military announcing plans to begin replacement training in early February next year.

Chen Binhua, spokesperson for the Office, stated that China firmly opposes the US providing weapons to China's Taiwan region. He urged the US to adhere strictly to the one-China principle and abide by the provisions outlined in the three Sino-US joint communiqués. He added that the US should fulfill its commitment to not supporting "Taiwan independence" through concrete actions, rather than encouraging "Taiwan independence" provocations that undermine peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait.

Chen emphasized that no individual or force should underestimate the Chinese government's and people's strong resolve, unwavering will, and robust capacity to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He reiterated that "Taiwan independence" separatist actions and foreign interference will not shake China's determination to resolve the Taiwan issue and achieve national reunification. The reunification of the motherland is a historical inevitability, Chen stated.
