About 40% of travelers use 'document-free' channels in Shenzhen Bay Port
Starting from Dec. 1, the "multiple-entry" Individual Visit Endorsements for Shenzhen residents traveling to Hong Kong has been officially launched. Shenzhen residents with household registration and residence permit holders can apply for the "multiple-entry" endorsement, which allows unlimited trips to Hong Kong within one year, with each stay not exceeding seven days.
Recently, the Shenzhen Bay Port has also implemented facial recognition. According to statistics, as of Dec. 9, over 630,000 people have used "document-free" channels, accounting for about 43% of the total e-channel users.
According to CCTV News, reporters at the Shenzhen Bay Port's departure hall observed that travelers using "document-free" channels could complete the clearance verification in less than 10 seconds by utilizing facial recognition and fingerprint verification.
Currently, the Shenzhen Bay Port has set up 88 e-channels, all of which can be adjusted to the "document-free" channels to support clearance using "facial recognition". The number of "document-free" channels will be adjusted based on operational conditions and relevant policy updates, further enhancing the efficiency of border crossings and improving the traveler experience.
