China's domestically-produced C919 aircraft launches trial in-flight Wi-Fi service
China Eastern Airlines announced on Thursday (Nov. 28) that its domestically-produced C919 passenger aircraft is now offering trial in-flight Wi-Fi services, providing passengers with enhanced connectivity and entertainment options during their journey.
Equipped with locally developed technology, the new onboard network allows passengers to enjoy a more diverse in-flight entertainment experience, making activities like watching movies or playing games with free Wi-Fi access available.
The system operates on a high-speed gigabit Ethernet backbone ring network, which ensures smooth HD video playback throughout the cabin. It also features interfaces for 5G wireless and satellite communication, paving the way for efficient upgrades in the future.
According to the airline authorities, this network is currently in a trial phase and will be improved further. In the future, it will also extend to encompass the entire C919 fleet of China Eastern Airlines.
