World's oldest man passes away at age of 112: Guinness World Records

The world's oldest man, John Tinniswood, passed away peacefully on November 25 at a nursing home in the UK at the age of 112, the Guinness World Records announced.

This centenarian, who witnessed the maiden voyage of the Titanic and both World Wars, became the world's oldest man in April of this year and celebrated his 112th birthday in August. It is reported that in his later years, he still kept up with the news daily and managed his own finances. Additionally, he made it a weekly ritual to eat a portion of fried food, the British classic: fish and chips.

Tinniswood was born in 1912 in Liverpool, UK, the same year as the Titanic's maiden voyage. In 1942, during the Second World War, he married his wife and was responsible for financial management and food supply in the British army. After the war, he worked in the accounting departments of Shell and BP until his retirement. During his centenarian years from 100 to 110, Tinniswood received a birthday card from Queen Elizabeth II of the UK every year. In April of this year, following the passing of Juan Vicente Pérez Mora, a 114-year-old man from Venezuela, he became the world's oldest man at that time.

Reflecting on a century of life, Tinniswood believed that the world hadn't changed much, but he also noted that the development of airplanes and technology had made the world smaller. He thought that while some regions of the world had improved, others had worsened.
