According to foreign media, Tencent (00700) announced yesterday (Nov. 26) that the Nintendo Switch for Chinese market will gradually cease operations of the Nintendo eShop and other online services from March 31, 2026, to May 15, 2026. This means that the sale of games or software tools will stop, and users will no longer be able to connect online.
According to the statement, the eShop in mainland China will stop selling or providing paid and free games and software starting March 31, 2026. From 10 p.m. on May 15, 2026, the store will also suspend download and redemption code services. Additionally, other online services will be closed from the same date.
To thank users for their support, a "Rewards Program" will be launched for all Nintendo Switch users in China. From 10 a.m. on November 27, 2024, to 10 PM on March 31, 2026, each activated Nintendo Switch console that has been used according to the "Nintendo Switch Terms of Use" will allow its owner to receive up to four redemption codes for downloadable Nintendo games or software tools for free. This can be done through the "Game Redemption" WeChat mini-program using the WeChat account registered on the console (limited to one account).
