Roden Tong: No evidence of unfair treatment of defendants in subversion case
The independence of Hong Kong's judiciary is beyond doubt, Roden Tong, President of the Law Society of Hong Kong, emphasized today (Nov. 21) during a press conference. He noted that the court had adequately explained the rationale for sentencing in its judgment and that there was no evidence of unfair treatment or unjust attacks on any of the defendants during the trial process.
Tong stated that the Law Society is a professional body and does not comment on any case from a political perspective. He observed that the judgment took into full consideration all evidence and provided a thorough explanation of the sentencing process. He understands that various parties are concerned about the case and hopes that everyone will view it from a legal standpoint, trusting in the common law system and the professional quality of the three judges involved.
