Bonnie Y Chan: 3 areas suggested by Vice Premier have been focus of HKEX
The Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit has recently concluded successfully, with Vice Premier He Lifeng delivering a speech at the opening ceremony, offering three suggestions for Hong Kong.
Bonnie Y Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) stated today (Nov. 21) that He Lifeng's remarks, along with those from various leaders of regulatory bodies in mainland China, serve as strong reassurance for Hong Kong, reflecting the central government's firm support.
Chan pointed out that the recognition from central leaders is highly encouraging. Three areas suggested by the Vice Premier, including financial innovation, external cooperation, and alignment with national development, have been the focus of HKEX. Supported by the national government, many new policies and measures launched by HKEX have begun to yield results.
HKEX has partnered with Hang Seng Indexes Company to launch the Hang Seng HKEX Stock Connect China Enterprises Index (SCCEA Index), which is the first jointly branded index from both parties. The index includes the 80 largest Chinese companies listed on the Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Shenzhen stock exchanges that can be traded via the Stock Connect.
Chan noted that investors can use the index to invest in stocks in both Hong Kong and the mainland, hoping that this collaboration with Hang Seng will create a new landscape.
