Shigeru Ishiba criticized by Japanese media for his addiction to cell phone at APEC
The 31st Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders was held in Lima, Peru, from Nov. 15 to Nov. 16. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba's diplomatic etiquette during the meeting has become a hot topic on the Internet.
On Nov. 17, a news program broadcast by a Japanese TV station exposed the scene of leaders greeting each other during the APEC. Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba was always sitting in his seat and immersed in his mobile phone during the meeting. Even when the Prime Minister of Malaysia and the Prime Minister of Canada came to greet him, he remained indifferent and shook hands with them while sitting in his seat.
It is reported that Shigeru Ishiba's visit to Peru and Brazil to attend an international conference from Nov. 14 to Nov. 21 is his first appearance on the diplomatic stage.
