Caricature: Dead or alive
US President-elect Donald Trump was interviewed by NBC last Thursday (Nov. 7) and talked about his plans after taking office in January next year. Trump claimed that one of his top priorities is to solve the problem of illegal immigration, insisting that the government has no choice but to deport illegal immigrants on a large scale.
Lee (pseudonym), a Hong Kong rebel living in exile in the US, claimed that he arrived in the US four years ago to apply for political asylum, believing himself to be a "legal immigrant", but admitted that he has not yet been given an interview with the immigration bureau.
Lee said that only a very small number of Hong Kong people have been granted political asylum, but he is still begging Trump for an answer, "If I have to leave, I want to know as soon as possible. If I have to delay for two more terms, when I'm in my 40s, how am I going to leave? Give me an answer whether I live or die".
