Over 250 million cards! Overseas-issued UnionPay cards now support Alipay and WeChat Pay Binding

UnionPay International announced today (Nov. 6th) that overseas-issued UnionPay cards now fully support linking with Alipay. At the same time, with the support of ICBC, overseas-issued UnionPay cards can also bind to WeChat Pay. 

This service will provide foreign visitors with more convient and inclusive payment options. Foreigners coming to China can download Alipay App or WeChat App, bind locally-issued UnionPay cards, and enjoy the same QR code payment service as Chinese locals do.

According to the company's statement, during the limited promotional period, cardholders will benefit from zero transaction fees for all payments within China, covering various online and offline scenarios including dining, accommodation, tourism, shopping, medical care, etc..

Currently, more than 250 million UnionPay cards have been issued in 83 countries and regions outside China. These cards can be used across 183 countries and regions for cross-border transactions.
