Apple expected to launch its own Wi-Fi chip next year: Ming-Chi Kuo
Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has stated that Apple will likely reduce its reliance on Broadcom Wi-Fi chips by launching its processor next year.
According to Kuo, Apple plans to use its own Wi-Fi chips starting with new products like the iPhone 17 in the latter half of next year. These chips, produced using TSMC's N7 process and supporting the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, are expected to be adopted across nearly all Apple products within three years. Kuo noted that this move would not only reduce costs but also enhance ecosystem integration advantages.
For several years, Apple has been committed to developing its internal Wi-Fi chip but has faced technical challenges during the process. Last year, Kuo mentioned that Apple had temporarily paused this project to prioritize its 3-nanometer Apple chip.
