Kevin Yeung to visit Portugal to enhance HK's global sports cooperation

The Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Kevin Yeung, will depart for Portugal tomorrow (Oct 28), with the delegation of the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (SF&OC), to attend the 2024 General Assembly of the Association of the National Olympic Committees (ANOC) to pursue the bid to host the 2026 ANOC General Assembly in Hong Kong.

ANOC comprises 206 National Olympic Committees (NOCs) and is responsible for protecting and advancing the interests of the world's NOCs and supporting their mission of promoting the Olympic Values worldwide. The General Assembly is the supreme governing body of ANOC.

During his stay in Portugal, Yeung will meet with NOC representatives of different countries and regions. He will also exchange views with local government officials and personalities of sports organizations to explore opportunities for cooperation and strengthen Hong Kong's collaboration with the international communities.

Yeung will depart Portugal for Hong Kong in the early hours of Nov. 1. During his absence, the Under Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, Raistlin Lau, will be the Acting Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism.
