On Oct. 22 local time, President Xi Jinping arrived in Kazan, Russia, on a special flight.
When the plane landed at Kazan International Airport, honor guards lined up on both sides of the red carpet to pay their respects, while young Russian women dressed in traditional attire welcomed him with customary gestures.
They also held a type of food said to be the local national dessert, chak-chak. This is a fried dough coated in honey and is an essential dessert on festive occasions. It appears that chak-chak is similar to sachima, a sweet snack in Manchu cuisine widely enjoyed by Chinese people, and it is said that the taste is almost identical.
