The government is optimizing family-friendly measures for civil servants. According to a document submitted by the Civil Service Bureau to the Legislative Council, the government plans to provide parental leave for civil servants with children under the age of three starting from April next year.
Eligible government employees will be able to take three days of parental leave per year for each child under three.
The Civil Service Bureau is currently developing the relevant details and implementation arrangements, which will be carried out after consulting the staff.
The new policy address released on October 16 also mentioned that the Hospital Authority, as the largest employer of medical professionals in Hong Kong, will implement several family-friendly measures, including introducing parental leave, extending flexible full-time working arrangements from doctors to other staff categories, assisting in organizing parent support groups and increasing family activities to help promote harmonious family relationships.
