Policy Address 2024 | Govt to enhance HK's status as international trade center
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee delivers his third Policy Address today (Oct. 16) at the Legislative Council. He stressed that the HKSAR Government will consolidate and enhance Hong Kong's status as an international trade center.
He said that the Government would strengthen the provision of high-value-added supply chain services by establishing a high-value-added supply chain services mechanism, providing greater export protection for enterprises, providing robust export credit services, promoting electronic trade financing, and enhancing financial services with data.
Economic and trade networks connecting HK, European, and American markets and B&R countries will expand. Lee noted that the Government will continue to seek early accession to the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, pay visits, and lead business and professional services delegations to priority markets to promote HK's professional services.
According to Lee, the Government will also promote development of a headquarters economy by bringing in strategic enterprises from outside the city to set up headquarters or corporate divisions in HK, extending the validity period of multiple-entry visas for foreign staff of companies registered in HK, and strengthening the range of financial services available for Mainland enterprises in HK wishing to expand overseas.
