Policy Address 2024 | John Lee unveils green-themed Policy Address, focusing on reform, development, and public welfare
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu spoke to the media today (Oct. 15) ahead of the Executive Council meeting, announcing that he will deliver his third Policy Address tomorrow (Oct. 16).
He revealed that the cover of this year's Policy Address will continue to use green, symbolizing the continuity and relevance of government policies, as well as harmony, vitality, and prosperity. Green highlights that Hong Kong is moving from governance to prosperity, with numerous initiatives unfolding.
Lee stated that an appendix has been prepared for the address, replacing the policy measures document used in the past two years. The appendix will closely relate to the main Policy Address and detail the background and specifics of various policies. Lee explained that this change aims to ensure the appendix is not overlooked and to enhance its relevance to the Policy Address.
According to Lee, the preparation of the Policy Address took more than three months and included over 40 consultation sessions. He also visited local communities to gather public opinions.
The government received over 9,500 submissions from various sources, including letters, emails, and social media. Lee expressed his gratitude to everyone who provided feedback. He emphasized his belief that Hong Kong will reach new heights if everyone works together to seize opportunities, pursue reforms, and drive development.
