Spanish tennis legend Rafael Nadal announced his definitive retirement from tennis this Thursday, stating that his final tournament will be the Davis Cup Finals in Málaga, taking place from November 19 to 24.
"I'm here to tell you that I'm retiring from professional tennis," the Spanish athlete stated via a video message.
"I'm really excited that my last tournament will be the Davis Cup Finals, representing my country. It's like closing the circle," added the 22-time Grand Slam champion.
"The truth is, it's been a tough few years, especially the last two. I don't think I've been able to play without limitations."
The tennis player, who last participated in the Olympics in Paris, acknowledged that it was a difficult decision.
Nadal, 38, retires with 92 career titles, his first won in 2004.
