'The dining room' closes all its branches in HK

"The dining room" has closed all its branches. Following the earlier closure of its Tsuen Wan branch, the last remaining branch in Tsing Yi has also announced that it will close in mid-October.

The chain restaurant "the dining room" under Shanghai XNG Holdings Limited was established in 2012. It had over ten branches across Hong Kong at its peak.

However, some branches have closed down in recent years. After the Tsuen Wan branch's closure in September, a recent post by a netizen in a Facebook group showed a notice at the Tsing Yi branch stating that it would operate until October 13 due to the expiration of the lease. This means that "the dining room" will close all its branches after operating for 12 years.

According to the data released by Shanghai XNG Holdings Limited, the group's losses in the first half of the year expanded to RMB 29.438 million as of June 30 of this year, compared to a loss of RMB 3.141 million in the same period of 2023. During this period, revenue dropped by 24.7% to RMB 182 million, with the revenue of "the dining room" in Hong Kong reaching RMB 11.614 million, a year-on-year decrease of 14.1%. Meanwhile, another brand under the group, Shanghai Min, generated revenue of RMB 13.671 million, a year-on-year drop of 18.6%.
