October 1 of this year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, which is an important milestone in the country's development. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government held a flag-raising ceremony this morning at the Golden Bauhinia Square in Wan Chai to celebrate this significant occasion. Chief Executive John Lee led a group of government officials to attend the ceremony.
As the ceremony began, the flag-raising officer slowly raised the national and regional flags to the top of the flagpole. Three helicopters from the Government Flying Service flew over Victoria Harbour, while fireboats sprayed water as a salute. After the flag-raising ceremony, the government immediately held a National Day reception at the Convention and Exhibition Centre.
