China grants visa-free entry to four European countries
On Sept. 30, during a regular press conference, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian was asked about recent visa exemption announcements made by Wang Yi, the Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, during the UN General Assembly.
Wang Yi announced that citizens from Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, and Slovenia would be granted visa-free entry to China.
Lin Jian explained that to further facilitate people-to-people exchanges between China and other countries, China has decided to expand its visa exemption program.
Starting from Oct. 15, 2024, until Dec. 31, 2025, ordinary passport holders from Portugal, Greece, Cyprus, and Slovenia can enter China without a visa for purposes including business, tourism, family visits, and transit for stays of up to 15 days. Lin urged these countries to provide more visa conveniences to Chinese citizens.
