The China Manned Space Agency announced on Saturday (Sept. 28) the spacesuits' name solicitation activity for society and made public the appearance of moon-landing spacesuits for the first time.
As one of the core equipment for future manned lunar exploration missions, spacesuits are mainly used for astronauts' life protection and operation support when they carry out lunar surface exit activities.
The moon-landing spacesuits can provide integrated protection for the complex environment of the lunar surface, such as vacuum, high and low temperatures, moon dust, and radiation environment, so that the astronauts in the suits can complete the lunar surface exit activities, such as walking, climbing, driving, and scientific research operations.
Since 2020 research and development, the suit aims for lightweight, miniaturization, high safety, and reliability breakthroughs in several key technologies, which has laid a solid foundation for implementing China's first manned mission to the moon.
