Maritime Museum to host 'Maritime Carnival' for National Day celebration
To celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Maritime Department will organize a "Maritime Carnival" at the Hong Kong Maritime Museum located at Central Pier 8 on Oct. 6.
This event will feature a series of activities and exhibitions to educate the public about the development of the shipping industry and promote patriotic education.
The "Maritime Carnival" will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Key activities include two demonstrations on "Oil and Marine Refuse Cleansing Demonstration," as well as tours of the Marine Department's Patrol Launch (MARINE 1) and the hydrographic survey ship Hydrographic Surveying Vessel (HYDRO 2).
This unique opportunity allows visitors to step aboard these operational vessels and look closer at their design and function. Each visitor will receive a souvenir from the Marine Department as a memento of their experience. Moreover, the "Ship-handling Simulator Experience" will provide an immersive opportunity for attendees to navigate a virtual boat journey through Hong Kong's waters.
Residents interested in touring the ships or trying out the ship simulation can register on the event's webpage from today until the evening of Sept. 29.
