Negative portrayals and incomplete media coverage affect HK's image: Bernard Chan
Bernard Chan, Chairman of Our Hong Kong Foundation, stated that Hong Kong currently faces not only deep-rooted conflicts but also new challenges. Due to factors such as negative portrayals and incomplete media coverage, the city's image has significantly deteriorated following social events and the pandemic, leading to a disconnect between overseas perceptions and reality.
In a radio program, Bernard Chan emphasized that as a think tank, they possess a wealth of information and hope the Hong Kong SAR government will adopt their suggestions. He also stressed the importance of presenting a positive image of Hong Kong to the international community.
He noted that Hong Kong's financial sector faces cyclical challenges, but he is not worried about its advantages under the "one country, two systems" framework. However, for certain industries facing Shenzhen's competitive edge, it is crucial not to focus solely on the situation in Hong Kong.
