Watch This | Celebrating diversity: A joyous Malaysia Day and Mid-Autumn Festival
Every year, on September 16, Malaysia Day is celebrated, distinct from the National Day in late August.
Malaysia Day coincides with the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, and festivities are being held simultaneously at Central i-City in Kuala Lumpur. Local children participated in a fashion show wearing traditional Malaysian attire, while handmade lanterns crafted from eco-friendly materials adorned the venue, featuring the phrase "Happy Mid-Autumn Festival," highlighting the spirit of cultural integration.
Michelle Ho, a teacher from one of the event's organizing bodies, expressed that this is the second year the event has been held, combining celebrations for Malaysia Day and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The aim is for participants, especially children, to experience Malaysia's rich multicultural atmosphere and promote traditional Chinese culture within Malaysia. As night fell, the mall's outdoor area hosted a lantern parade, allowing citizens to collect free lanterns as keepsakes.
