MTR seat hogging: Man uses bag as pillow, occupying four seats
Recently, a netizen posted in the Facebook group about seeing a male passenger lying across four seats on the East Rail Line, using his bag as a pillow. He was sprawled out, taking up space meant for others, with a suitcase in front of him.
After sharing the post, netizens mocked the passenger, saying things like, "Poor guy, couldn't sleep all night," and "Do you need a blanket? Should we turn off the AC?" Some even suggested that MTR follow the example of mainland subways and regularly deploy security personnel on trains to prevent similar situations.
Photos showed that the train was not very crowded then, and empty seats were still available.
According to Chapter 556B, Section 22 of the "MTR By-laws," no one is allowed to place their feet on any seat within railway premises, with violators facing a fine of up to HKD 2,000. Additionally, Section 25 states that no one may engage in behavior that causes annoyance or disturbance to other passengers on the train or within railway premises, with violators facing fines up to HKD 5,000.
