Six guilty, two acquitted for eight HK police officers in 2020’s assault case toward homeless people

Eight police officers were on duty at Tung Chau Street Park in Sham Shui Po in 2020 when they allegedly framed homeless individuals for drug possession, assaulted them, and destroyed their belongings.

The eight officers denied ten charges, including misconduct in public office and preventing the course of justice. Cheung Kit-yee, Judge of the District Court ruled today (Sept. 13) that six of them were guilty of five charges, while the remaining two were acquitted.

The eight defendants are aged between 27 and 46. At the time of the incident, they were members of the Special Duties Team in the Sham Shui Po Division.
