PHYSICAL Fitness & Beauty chain closes, over HK$70 mn in claims filed
After the sudden temporary closure of the large chain gym PHYSICAL Fitness & Beauty on Sept. 6, a surge of consumer complaints emerged.
Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) arrested a 67-year-old male director and a 68-year-old female director in the previous two days, suspected of violating the Trade Descriptions Ordinance.
Supervisor Fong Kwun-ting from the C&ED Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau Unfair Trade Practice Investigation Group spoke on a radio program this morning (Sept. 12), revealing that as of 7 a.m. today, they have received 1,357 complaints involving more than 70 million Hong Kong dollars. Additional arrests have not been ruled out.
